چکیده

The distribution of endogenous gibberellins in Dwarf-1, a single gene dwarf mutant of Mexico 80-R red beans, was studied. Parallel extraction and fractionation of seeds of this mutant and those of a normal homozygous line followed by thin layer chromatography and bioassays using Rumex obtusifolius, wheat seed endosperm and dwarf bean plants revealed that a stem elongation control factor was contained in the non-acidic fraction from normal, but not from Dwarf-1, seeds. It was concluded that the single gene mutation causes a block either in gibberellin precursor formation or in production of a non-acidic fraction gibberellin-like substance.

The sax1 dwarf mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana shows altered sensitivity of growth responses to abscisic acid, auxin, gibberellins and ethylene and is partially rescued by exogenous brassinosteroid.

Genetic approaches using Arabidopsis thaliana aimed at the identification of mutations affecting events involved in auxin signalling have usually led to the isolation of auxin-resistant mutants. From a selection screen specifically developed to isolate auxin-hypersensitive mutants, one mutant line was selected for its increased sensitivity to auxin (x 2 to 3) for the root elongation response. T...

Variations in endogenous gibberellins in developing bean seeds I. Occurrence of neutral and acidic substances.

Activities of separated and chromatographed substances in the nonacidic, acidic ethyl acetate and acidic butanol fractions from bean seeds, Phaseolus vulgaris L., cv. Bountiful and Kentucky Wonder, were measured in the Progress No. 9 dwarf pea bioassay grown under red light. Activity in the nonacidic fraction was shown to be attributable only to neutral substances and was free of acidic gibbere...

Variations in Endogenous Gibberellins in Developing Bean Seeds II. Changes Induced in Acidic and Neutral Fractions by GA(1).

Immature (8-mm), medium mature (11-mm), and mature green (16- and 17-mm) bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Kentucky Wonder and Bountiful) were incubated in gibberellin A(1) solutions for 24 hours at 20 degrees . Extracts from the seeds were separated into nonacidic, acidic ethyl acetate, and acidic butanol fractions. These were chromatographed. The eluates of the chromatograms were tested o...

Analysis of Induced Mutants of Salinity Resistant Banana (Musa acuminata cv. Dwarf Cavendish) Using Morphological and Molecular Markers

Genetic diversity amongst 21 induced mutant clones tolerant to salinity along with one non-irradiated sensitive clone of banana (Musa acuminata cv. Dwarf Cavendish (AAA)) were studied using morphological and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. Out of the 30 phenotypic indices screened, 23 were polymorph and two traits, leaf habit and blotches color, were differentiated by non-irrad...

Fine mapping and characterization of a novel dwarf and narrow-leaf mutant dnl1 in rice.

Plant height is one of the most important agronomic traits of rice (Oryza sativa). Dwarf mutants are ideal materials for research on the mechanisms of regulation of rice plant height. We examined a new dwarf and narrow-leaf mutant dnl1. Phenotypic analysis showed that the dnl1 mutant has a thinner culm and more tillers, but the number of grains per panicle, the seed setting rate and the grain w...
